Sigma Nus are passionate for giving back to their community by volunteering our time with causes we care deeply about, raising awareness on key issues and fundraising for worthy organizations.

Community Service

Servant leadership is an important part of who we are. Whether it be on campus or at home, we individually embody the values of Sigma Nu in our daily lives. As an organization, giving back to the community allows us to grow as servant leaders. We volunteer at a variety of organizations around Davis including: Grace Gardens, Habitat for Humanity, Yolo County Food Bank, Putah Creek, Hillel House, TROTR, and more. To learn more about our community service events, contact our community service chair Supraj Buddhavarapu (sbuddhavarapu@ucdavis.edu).

Sigma Nu at UC Davis WON the 2020 Sigma Nu Community Service Contribution Award with an impressive average of 54 community service hours per brother last year! Read the announcement here.

Philanthropy

Trekking for the Troops

Here at Sigma Nu, we strive to promote the welfare of others. Each quarter, we hold a philanthropy event to raise money for organizations aligned with our chapters' values. In 2016, twelve brothers raised and donated ~$14,000 to the Pathway Home in our annual philanthropy Trekking for the Troops.  They then embarked on a 110 mile trek to the summit of Mount Whitney to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury suffered by one-third of soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

To learn more about our philanthropies, contact our Trekking for the Troops Chair Conor Lewis (cslewis@ucdavis.edu), or our Philanthropy Chair Adam Dell’Orto (atdellorto@ucdavis.edu).

Brothers trekked 110 miles to raise awareness for veterans suffering from PTSD and raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Pathway Home.

Sigma Noodles

Our other philanthropy, Sigma Noodles, sends money to the Blair Fox Scholarship which you can learn more about below. Our chapter organizes and hosts Sigma Noodles every year, cooking and serving noodles to the community while raising money for the scholarship. We also have the pleasure to hear from Blair’s parents as well as brothers who had the pleasure of knowing him.
